Introduction
Cycling is a great way to get fit without having to think about it. If you can substitute journeys to work or school, or any journey you wish, from a car to cycle then you will be exercising and helping the environment. Often for short journeys, especially in busy areas, cycling will get you there quicker than using motorised transport. Combining cycling with public transport can also greatly reduce travel time.
The government is getting behind cycling with a number of pro cycling initiatives from cycle lanes in towns to offering tax relief on cycles used for cycling to work. The range of different cycles available to buy has also increased meaning there is a bike to suit no matter what your preferences or tastes are.
